HOPE, AR – The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Chancellor Chris Thomason hosted the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees Chairman Mark Waldrip and his wife Angela Waldrip at the Texarkana and Hope campuses on Wednesday, September 26.  Chancellor Thomason provided tours of both campuses and an update on campus activity to the Chairman.

“The commitment of the University of Arkansas System to supporting the mission of University of Arkansas at Hope and Texarkana has never been stronger,” Chancellor Thomason said.  “Chairman Waldrip’s presence on our Texarkana and Hope campuses is evidence of the desire of the Board of Trustees to know the communities we serve and understand how to best support regional growth through the System’s educational resources.”

Chancellor Thomason’s wife Penny hosted a tour of the art exhibits for Mrs. Waldrip at Hempstead Hall on the Hope campus.  A reception in honor of Chairman and Mrs. Waldrip was held in the Hempstead Hall rotunda following the tours and business agenda.  Members of the UAHT Board of Visitors and UAHT Foundation Board were present as well as Representative Carol Dalby and Representative Danny Watson and members of both communities.  The UAHT Foundation presented Chairman and Mrs. Waldrip with a custom James Hayes glass art piece to show appreciation for their visit to the campuses.

The trustees of the University of Arkansas System are appointed by the governor of Arkansas to 10-year overlapping terms. The board sets policy for the University of Arkansas as well as other universities, colleges and institutes within the system.  Chairman Mark Waldrip of Moro is owner of East Arkansas Seeds Inc. and Armor Seed LLC, companies that develop and sell soybeans, wheat, rice and corn. He also owns and manages Waldrip Farms Inc., a several thousand acre family farm. Waldrip is a 1977 graduate of the University of Arkansas. His term expires in 2020.
