The Southwest Arkansas District Fair and Rodeo is here again and promises a week full of family entertainment for area residents.

Festivities will kick off at 6 p.m. this evening with the Fair Parade. The parade will start at West 6th St. and South Elm St., travel north on Elm, turn east on Division St., turn south on Walnut St., turn east on 2nd St. and end around the Post Office. The Fair Queen Pageant will start at 7:30 p.m.

The Fair itself opens at 5 p.m. Tuesday evening for $1 Night. Gate admission each day is $5 for ages 12 and older, $3 for ages 6-11 and free for children 5 and younger.

Fair Schedule:

Tuesday: Dollar Night – 5-10 p.m.

Wednesday: Armband Day – 5-10 p.m.

Thursday: Armband Day – 2-10 p.m. (Carnival opens at 5 p.m.)
*Ranch Rodeo – 7:30 p.m. (No Advanced Sales) – HCSO Operation Christmas Fundraiser

Friday: Carnival opens at 5 p.m.
*Bulls, Broncs & Barrels – 7:30 p.m.

Saturday:  Armband Day – 1-5 p.m.
*Bulls, Broncs & Barrels – 7:30 p.m.

Armbands are $20 for each of the three Armband Days and will not include gate admission.

Thursday night’s Ranch Rodeo is being put on by the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office. All proceeds from the rodeo will go toward Operation Christmas/Shop With a Deputy to purchase gifts for kids around the county this Christmas.

Advanced tickets for Bulls, Broncs & Barrels can be purchased at Farmers Bank and its branches and at Tienda San Luis until Thursday. Advanced tickets are $8 for adults and $3 for children and will give free gate admission for one person per ticket. Tickets purchased at the fairgrounds will be $10 for adults and $5 for children and won’t include gate admission.

As always, there will be livestock, crafts art and more being shown and judged starting Wednesday, so come by the Hope Fair Park and check out all the entries from around the district.
