UPDATED:::HOPE, AR – A man is in jail and a woman in the hospital after a shooting Friday morning at Hopewell Loop Apartments in Hope.
Officers with the Hope Police Department responded to a call around 9:22 a.m. for a female who had been shot in the face. While en route, reports came in that the man who allegedly shot the woman had been disarmed and detained by someone on the scene.
Pafford EMS responded and initially contacted LifeNet EMS to launch a helicopter to transport the victim, identified by Hope Police Department as Tamiko Phillips-Hawkins, 47, of Hope, but cancelled it once they made it on scene. Phillips-Hawkins condition apparently was stable enough to be transported non-emergent by ambulance to Saint Michael Health System in Texarkana.
The man who allegedly shot the victim has been identified by the Hope Police Department as Tony M. Hawkins, 48, of Hope. Assistant Chief Kim Tomlin said witnesses identified Hawkins to police. Hawkins was taken into custody and transported to the Hempstead County Detention Center. He was charged with domestic battery 1st degree, 5 counts of aggravated assault and possession of firearm by certain persons.
Detectives are actively investigating the shooting at this time.

Tony Hawkins was taken into custody and transported the Hempstead County Detention Facility where he was charged with Domestic Battery 1st degree, 5 counts of Aggravated Assault, and Possession of Firearm by Certain Persons and held for a first appearance.
