A 20-year-old Mount Ida woman is jailed in Hempstead County, charged with residential burglary and theft of property stemming from a burglary that happened Thursday, June 21 at a home on Hempstead 10.
According to Hempstead County Sheriff James Singleton, Hannah Hamilton, 20, of Mount Ida was arrested Friday, June 22 in Clark County after she was stopped driving a 2000 Chevrolet truck reported stolen from a residence in the 600 block of Hempstead 10. During the stop, officers reportedly found all the items reported stolen from the residence which were a .22 Savage rifle with scope, a Glock 19 9mm handgun, a Remington 7mm rifle, a Kindle Fire tablet, a Toshiba laptop and several items of women’s clothing. All of the property was recovered and returned to the victims of the burglary.
Hamilton was turned over to the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office and booked in the Hempstead County Detention Center for residential burglary and theft of property.
Hamilton may be facing charges in other counties as well. When deputies responded to the residence where the burglary occurred, a white GMC pick-up reported stolen out of Lafayette County was located behind the house.
