Hempstead County Deputy Becky Billings recently completed two weeks of D.A.R.E. Instructor training with the Tennessee Highway Patrol in Cookeville, Tennessee.
D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children from kindergarten through 12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives.
The 35-year-old program was started in Los Angeles in 1983 and is now currently taught in nationwide and in 52 countries.
Deputy Billings will be bringing the D.A.R.E. Program to schools around the county during the 2018-2019 school year.
