SHOVER SPRINGS, AR – A Hempstead County man was seriously injured early Sunday morning after crashing his motorcycle.

Colt Johnson, 28, was traveling west on Highway 32 East near the Nevada County line when he apparently veered off the right side of the road and struck a pile of dirt, causing him to lose control of his Harley Davidson, going into a skid. Johnson and his motorcycle skid for more than 100 yards before coming to stop in the middle of the highway. Johnson suffered serious injuries and was pinned by the motorcycle.

A passerby found Johnson in the highway at about 12:45 a.m. and called 911. Southeast Fire Department and Pafford EMS responded and gave Johnson medical attention. Johnson had to be cut free so the motorcycle could be lifted off of him.

Pafford secured Johnson and transported him to a nearby field where they met a helicopter from LifeNet EMS. He was transferred into the helicopter and flown to UAMS in Little Rock.

Arkansas State Police Corporal David Hamilton investigated the crash with the assistance of Hempstead County Deputies.
