HOPE, AR – One man received minor injuries and another is in jail after the driver of an SUV lost control and crashed into a home on Patmos Road Friday afternoon.

According to the driver of the blue Chevrolet Tahoe, Bernard McCarthur, of Hope, he was traveling north in the 3400 block of Patmos Road at around 3:30 p.m. when he swerved to avoid an object in the road and lost control of the SUV. The Tahoe went into the east ditch and struck culvert, going out of control and swerving hard to the right, crashing through the wall of the home located in the former Wee People Day Care and into the bedroom of the owners.

Bill Woods, the owner, said he, his wife and granddaughter were in the back of the building working on an apartment when they heard the crash. The family was amazed to find the truck amid the debris inside their home.

Driver, Bernard McCarthur, suffered a minor injury but declined transport by Pafford EMS. He was cited for careless and prohibited driving. McCarthur’s passenger, Brian Moore, from Hope, was taken into custody by investigating Deputy Orlando Dennis for a felony warrant and possession of what Deputy Dennis identified ans marijuana.

Hope Water and Light and Centerpoint Energy  responded to the scene to make sure there was no danger due to utilities. Reese’s Wrecker Service extricated the truck from the house.
