HOPE, AR – Shortly after opening their doors for business Saturday morning, Family Dollar employees and their patrons had to evacuate the building after a fire broke out.

The fire was called in shortly after 9 a.m. Hope Fire Department and the Hope Police Department responded to the store and found heavy smoke rolling out of the building. Current information indicates everyone got out of the building safely.

Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office and Pafford EMS also responded to the scene. Southeast Fire Department was called in to assist.

The store suffered extensive damage but the extent of that damage and the cause of the fire are not known at this time. We will update as more information is available.
