HOPE, AR – A woman was injured after failing to negotiate a curve on North Hervey St. and crashing into a creek.

Anna Brown, 22, was traveling north on Hervey at West Avenue H when, according to witnesses, she drove straight through the curve in her Buick Encore. Witnesses said Brown hit and jumped both curbs on Avenue H with her Encore and drove off the road. The witnesses said Brown’s SUV disappeared from view. The Encore went down the embankment toward the creek before hitting the concrete culvert, overturning onto the passenger side and coming to a stop.

The witnesses stopped and assisted Brown out of her vehicle and checked her for injuries. Brown, who appeared quite frazzled by the crash, appeared to have injuries to her from the seat belt and some minor lacerations.

Officers from the Hope Police Department spoke to witnesses and investigated the crash while a crew from Pafford EMS checked Brown for her injuries. Brown couldn’t account for why she drove off of the road while on scene.

Brown was transported by Pafford to Wadley Regional Medical Center in Hope.

Officers closed down both northbound lanes of Hervey while a crew from Red River Wrecker negotiated the vehicle’s recovery while attempting to limit further damage and prevent the SUV from rolling completely over into the creek.
