A woman walked away uninjured after heavy rains and flooding resulted in her car to hydroplane and crash on 73 East Wednesday afternoon.
The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. when the woman was traveling west in the 3500 block of Highway 73 East. The woman’s silver Honda Accord hit a large area of standing water causing the car to hydroplane, run off the north side of the highway and crash head-on into a tree. The crash badly damaged the car and deployed the airbags.
The Arkansas State Police, Pafford EMS and Southeast Fire Department were dispatched to the crash. The driver was already out of the car and in someone else’s vehicle when firefighters and medical responders arrived. She advised that she did not want medical assistance.
Firefighters directed traffic to keep the scene safe due to its location around a curve at the bottom of a hill. Traffic was stopped temporarily while B&B Wrecker cleared the car from the scene.
