A car stolen out of Texarkana was recovered after a police pursuit in Hope Saturday night.

The Hope Police Department was notified by Arkansas State Police of a stolen white Nissan Sentra coming into Hope on Highway 67 West around 9 p.m. Saturday, April 15. The car’s last known location was reported to have been around Autozone.

Patrol Officers saturated the area searching for the vehicle. The car was spotted in the area and a stop was initiated by one of the officers. The Sentra didn’t stop and led officers on a pursuit through downtown, running stop signs and leading the police south to the residential neighborhoods between Yerger Middle School and Hope High School.

The Sentra was able to break line of site with the lead car momentarily and the occupants took the opportunity to abandon the car and flee on foot. The car was abandoned on East 8th St near South Walnut St.

Hope Police secured the car and began searching the area with the Arkansas State Police for a suspect spotted fleeing the area.

The Officers located a man matching their suspect description near 6th St at the entrance to Kelly Homes. They made contact with Kody Roquemore, 18, of Texarkana. After interviewing him and speaking to witnesses in the area, officers took Roquemore into custody. Roquemore was transported to the Hempstead County Detention Center and charged with theft by receiving.

The Sentra was impounded and Texarkana Police Department notified.

According to witnesses there were at least two other individuals seen fleeing from the vehicle. If you have any information contact the Hope Police Department at 870-777-3434.
