Members of the community came out to show support for the Hempstead County’s Youngest Deputy, Jonathan Keen at the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office Friday.
The hamburger lunch and cake auction raised money to help with 4-year-old Jonathan’s medical expenses as he goes through treatment at Arkansas Children’s Hospital for stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer. Jonathan has been in and out of treatment over the last several months. On Friday, December 16 Hempstead County Sheriff James Singleton appointed Jonathan his newest and youngest deputy.
People enjoyed fellowship over burgers cooked on location by members of the Sheriff’s Office, signed cards made for Jonathan and took part in the cake auction.
According to Deputy Rebecca Billings, the event brought in about $5,500. Sheriff Singleton said all the proceeds will go to help pay for Jonathan’s medical bills. Donations can also be deposited in a Love Fund set up in Deputy Jonathan Keen’s name at any Diamond Bank Branch.
