A local truck driver lost his truck to a fire early Monday morning at the lot where it was parked.

Douglas Webb’s 2012 Western Star was parked in a lot near Southern Bakeries on Highway 67 East when it caught fire around 1 a.m. Monday.

Hope Police Department, Hope Fire Department and Pafford EMS were dispatched to the location for a vehicle on fire. When they arrived on scene they found the truck completely engulfed. Firefighters were able to quickly put the fire out. Another truck driver’s red Camaro was parked next to the Western Star but did not appear to sustain any damage.

Officers were able to locate Webb’s residence and notified him of the fire. He came to the scene where he was interviewed by officers for their report. Webb told officers the truck had been parked over the weekend and he was scheduled to go out again Monday morning. Webb said that he had been having issues part of the truck’s emissions system and had been noticing a smell of burning rubber on occasion.

There is no official word on the cause of the fire at this time.
