A crash between a Hempstead County truck and a Chevrolet pickup only temporarily hampered the end-of-day traffic on North Hazel St at the Bill Clinton Bypass shortly after 4 p.m. today. The trucks blocked the northbound lane on Hazel and the westbound lane on the bypass. The county truck was northbound on Hazel heading to the county shop to end the day. The Chevrolet was said to have been heading south on Hazel and attempting a left turn onto the bypass in front of the county truck. The front of the Chevrolet collided head-on into the front left side of the county truck, spinning the Chevrolet around where it came to rest facing north.

Hope Police Officers arrived on scene and kept traffic flowing through the intersection in an orderly manner while West Wrecker Service quickly removed the Chevrolet and cleared the debris from the road with the help of officers. They were able to get the intersection cleared and traffic back to normal after only a brief delay.

Pafford EMS checked the driver of the Chevrolet who was able to walk to the ambulance on his own but appeared in obvious pain. He was transported to Wadley Regional Medical Center in Hope.
