A Dallas man wanted for allegedly firing at an officer was captured this afternoon in Ashdown.
Glenn Lee Derricks, 25, was arrested around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 21 at the City Park in Ashdown.
Law enforcement had been searching for Derricks since Monday night when he fired at an Ashdown Police Officer after the vehicle he was in was pulled over. When the vehicle he was in came to a stop, Derricks allegedly got out immediately and began firing at the officer as he ran into a nearby neighborhood. The officer was not hit and no one was injured but, according to sources, the officer’s cruiser was hit twice. a parked car and two houses were also hit.
Ashdown Police, the Little River Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police searched for Derricks and surrounding law enforcement agencies were notified of the B.O.L.O.
Police were notified by residents that Derricks was in the park today. Officers arrived on scene and sources say he fled toward the railroad tracks but they were able to apprehend him. Derricks reportedly did not have the gun on him when he was captured but told law enforcement where it was.
Derricks is being held in the Little River County Jail.
