As the push toward this year’s Relay for Life continues, teams around the area are hard at work to raise money in the fight against cancer. A number of events are scheduled in the coming weeks and the community is encouraged to participate and support the cause in any way they can.
- Students in some area schools will be raising money in the month of April. Nevada Elementary and Spring Hill Elementary schools are going to do penny drives in April. The class that earns the most money will win a pizza party. Jesse Lewis, a volunteer with Hempstead County Relay for Life, said, “I love seeing the kids get so excited to be helping find a cure.”
- Heather Clements Photography has agreed to be a RFL in-kind sponsor. She will be taking photos at the survivor reception Thursday, May 4 and on the night of Relay, Friday, May 5. She will arrive at Relay when the tents are up to take team pictures.
- Heather Manor’s RFL team is hosting the 2nd Annual Co-Ed Softball tournament on Saturday, April 15 at Kelly Fields in Hope. Last year six teams participated and raised $2600. We are hoping to double those numbers this year. Help us knock cancer out of the ballpark!
