It is written that when life begins, it is like an open book with many blank pages. Each day as we live, our deeds are recorded page by page until we close our eyes and await that great departure. The pages of this book began for Brother Kashannon Willis in Texarkana, Texas on February 13, 1979 to the parentage of Lisa Willis and James A. Roberts. Shannon attended school at Carver Preschool, Fairview Elementary, College Hill Jr. High and Arkansas High School until his health failed and later returned to school and obtained his GED in May 2016. He accepted Christ at an early age, first with Bright Star Baptist Church, Texarkana, Arkansas, later with Tower of Power under the leadership of Pastor David Watson and after relocating to Hope, Arkansas was added to Brown Chapel Church of Christ, where he remained until his death.
Shannon worked at McDonald’s and St. Michael Hospital, until he became ill. At the time of his death, he was a full-time student at UACCH of Hope. Those awaiting his arrival and to welcome him home are his father, grandparents, aunts, uncles and other relatives.
The final pages of this earthly life were written on Wednesday evening, February 22, 2017, when in his 38th season, answered the call that no one can refuse and passed from this world into eternity at Wadley Regional Medical Center of Hope, Arkansas.
Because love is far greater than death, Kashannon departs this earth in body only. He leaves in God’s care a loving and devoted mother, Sis. Lesia Willis Floyd, a sister, Shyeviki Mack both of Hope, Arkansas; a brother, Benjamin Henderson of Kansas City, Missouri; two nieces; five nephews; seven aunts, Rose (John) Lacy of Washington, Arkansas, Gladystine (Charles) Nelson, Brenda Daniels and Jacqueline (Calvin) Boyce all of Texarkana, Texas, Patricia and Annette Daniels of Wake Village, Texas, Carolyn Tucker of Little Rock, Arkansas; six uncles, Travis (Gertha) Matthews of Texarkana, Texas, Frederick Daniels of Houston, Texas, Michael and Steven Daniels of Dallas, Texas, Carl Layton of Texarkana, Arkansas; a very special cousin who was more of an uncle, Frank (Bobbie) Witherspoon; special cousin, Evelyn (Billy) Porter; and devoted friends, Mary Hammonds, Joe Maxwell and Valene Hendrix all of Hope, Arkansas; and numerous other relatives and friends.
