One woman was injured Monday afternoon after a head-on collision on North Hervey at the I-30 Eastbound on-ramp.
Hope police officers and Pafford EMS were dispatched at about 3:35 p.m. to North Hervey at the I-30 on-ramp. A Hempstead County Deputy and Arkansas State Trooper also stopped to assist.
A black Ford Fusion driven by a Prescott man and a silver Nissan Sentra driven by an elderly female were both disabled and blocking northbound traffic. Both vehicles had damage to the front end. Law enforcement merged traffic in both directions down to one lane but kept the after-school traffic flowing until the cars could be cleared.
According to the driver of the black Ford Fusion, he was facing south and turning left onto the eastbound on-ramp when the collision happened. He said that he never saw the Nissan coming.
The collision deployed the airbags which caused minor abrasions to the man’s wrists but he was out of his Ford and walking around. He was not transported to the hospital. The female driver of the Nissan appeared to be in serious pain and was checked by a crew from Pafford EMS before being transported to Wadley Regional Medical Center in Hope.
